Sailors with disABILITIES offer a Winds of Joy Program which is designed to give children with disability and disadvantaged children and youth the opportunity to go sailing. Through our crew, SWD are able to provide positive role models, demonstrating that people with a disability do not have to be confined by it and creating optimism. This program is run entirely by volunteers and there is no cost to participants for this activity. Group bookings of minimum 10 with at least 8 with disability/special needs and a maximum of 3 wheelchairs including can be booked by school or community groups. Sailors with disABILITIES Winds of Joy program gives children with disability and those facing disadvantage the opportunity to go sailing. This program is entirely run by volunteers and there is no cost to participants. Aiming to create optimism, the SWD crew become positive role models on board, demonstrating that people with disability are not confined by their circumstances. Group bookings—minimum of 10—including at least 8 people with disability/special needs, can be booked by school or community groups. The maximum is 15 participants, including teachers and carers. We can take up to 3 wheelchairs. Repeat bookings for the same group of students will need to be approved by SWD prior to booking.
