Sailors with disABILITIES strives for continuous improvement—development of volunteer skills is an important part of what SWD does. The purpose of this training is to provide our crew with improved skills and a better understanding of our Winds Of Change Program and how to successfully participate in the seriesThis, in-turn, will support volunteers to be more confident and better equipped to facilitate high quality sailing and group experiences on board.

Sailors with disABILITIES offer a Winds of Joy Program which is designed to give children with disability and disadvantaged children and youth the opportunity to go sailing. Through our crew, SWD are able to provide positive role models, demonstrating that people with a disability do not have to be confined by it and creating optimism. This program is run entirely by volunteers and there is no cost to participants for this activity. Group bookings of minimum 10, including at least 8 with disability/special needs can be booked by school or community groups. If you are one of our authorised crew members and would like to crew, please follow the steps as per above and add your name to the crew list. All crew should register their intention at least 2 weeks prior to their intended sail and be at the boat 1 hour prior to the sail time listed for boat call.
