Sailors with disABILITIES offer a Winds of Joy Program which is designed to give children with disability and disadvantaged children and youth the opportunity to go sailing. Through our crew, SWD are able to provide positive role models, demonstrating that people with a disability do not have to be confined by it and creating optimism. This program is run entirely by volunteers and there is no cost to participants for this activity. Group bookings of minimum 10 with at least 8 with disability/special needs and a maximum of 3 wheelchairs including can be booked by school or community groups. If you are one of our authorised crew members and would like to crew, please follow the steps as per above and add your name to the crew list. All crew should register their intention at least 2 weeks prior to their intended sail and be at the boat 1 hour prior to the sail time listed for boat call

Sailors with disABILITIES would like to invite groups of Carers to join us for a relaxing day on the Derwent, on our 54 foot Yacht. These days are crewed by volunteers and aimed at giving hard working Carers, Parents and the siblings of the people with disabilites, some time out and a chance to relax for a few hours out on the water. Where groups are able to organise respite care, we welcome carers and their immediate family on board for an enjoyable leisure sail. The sail departs from the Derwent Sailing Squadron at 11am and return at approx 2pm. These sessions must be booked as a group, we can accommodate a maximum of 15 people per session and a minimum of 10
