We interviewed Josh about the Sydney to Sydney Challenge:

What’s exciting about being part of SWD’s Sydney to Sydney challenge?
A
The exciting part is, basically, I’ve done a lot of up and down the coast racing, thousands and thousands of miles. I haven’t gone straight out to sea so I’m quite looking forward to just going straight out to sea. But every time I go out with Dave on this boat, it’s just exciting. It’s an exciting, fast boat and to get out there with this crew, a good bunch as well. I’m quite happy to go out with those guys and try and set a record.

What’s your role on the boat?

The main sail trimmer. It keeps the big back sail under control – into wind or down wind. There’s a lot of movement on that back sail and I do that day and night. I’ve been doing that for years and years.
I’m a sails guy. SWD's WOT EVA is fast and powerful. If Dave is steering and I’m on the main, we need to be in touch otherwise Dave can’t steer.
The main will take over the boat. He can’t come off the breeze unless I let him. It all has to work in harmony.

What would you like to say to a child who looks at this and thinks, ‘I can’t do it.’?

Come down and see us is the first thing. They can do it, they just need to decide if they want to do it. Get involved. Do a little practice and dive in the deep end. Most things are like that. Dive in the deep end and give it a go.
Dave and SWD run a very good program. You shouldn’t hesitate to get involved. Just come down and see Dave.
