Sailors with disABILITIES (SWD) has established a permanent presence for SWD in Victoria to run its Winds of Joy programs.
The program gives young people with disability the opportunity to experience sailing on board Ninety Seven, a Farr 47 that has been modified for people with disabilities, able to accommodate people in wheelchairs. Ninety Seven took Line Honours in the 1993 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
Sailing program will run from October 2016 through to March 2017 and will cater for children with disabilities by giving them the opportunity to sail on Ninety Seven.

For many, Winds of Joy is the first step on a journey of change. This journey begins when participants see each others’ success on deck, when they observe SWD volunteers working around the boat and join in, and when they realise they can experience freedom on the water, defined by what they can do.
